Students acknowledge their responsibility to enhance their chances of success in school and life, in the quality of their relationships, and in their own well-being and happiness by: 1) Consciously choosing positive attitudes and mindsets (including optimism, enthusiasm, gratitude, and cheerfulness) and rejecting self-defeating attitudes (e.g., pessimism, cynicism, defeatism, and hopelessness). (See SE4.7.) 2) Developing critical self-management and social skills traits, including: self-discipline, resilience, perseverance, stress management, organization and time management, planning and goal-setting, initiative, flexibility, poise, patience, communication, collaboration, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence. (See SE2, SE3, SE4.)
